Bone-Opening Ceremony

As the birth approaches, the body, which has filled out and broadened, needs movement that will support preparation for the transition into the birth itself.

On the emotional and energetic level, creating movement and drive will also support maturation and release towards fulfillment prior to the birth of any significant project, idea, or new initiative.

Whether you are expecting a baby, or the birth of a new initiative, idea or project, and feel the desire and inner call for a contained and supportive space, filled with attention and sensitivity towards you and your process – you are invited to the powerful experience of a bone-opening ceremony.

We will begin the ritual with a gentle Arvigo uterine massage to soften and prepare the body for the opening, supporting the optimal positioning of the womb and the embryo before birth.

After the massage, we will achieve the opening of the body by creating movement using Rebozo shawls.

(Rebozo is a strong, flexible, woven fabric with multiple uses for the female pelvis: during menstruation,

birth, and after birth).

Movement is achieved by swaying the body with the rebozo shawl, which creates dynamic movement.

After this stage, we will drink a comforting tea together and talk about what came up if you wish to share, or allow non-verbal integration.

At the end of the ceremony, you may go back to your day with sensitivity to and awareness of your needs, like rest, quiet and balanced nutrition.

The ritual takes place in a calm and protected atmosphere. It is a powerful, gentle ritual that enables you to surrender to your unique process and tune in to your birth.

If the ritual takes place in your home, we recommend a bath with calming healing herbs before the massage.

The ritual lasts for about two hours.

Bone Closing Ceremony

The bone closing ceremony is appropriate for the postpartum period (vaginal or caesarean); it should be done between 6 weeks to a year after giving birth.

Even at the end of a significant period, project, or stage in life, bone binding can be supportive.

The ritual facilitates the physical binding of “opened bones”, joints, and ligaments that have stretched to enable pregnancy and birth. Binding affects both the mind and body of the binder, who wishes to complete one stage in order to enable the opening of another.

After the great opening you have experienced in birth or at the end of an important period in your life, it is beneficial to bind your body and mind, giving them time for rest and renewal. This gentle and powerful ritual will allow you to sanctify yourself, gather yourself in and focus on this unique time. The ritual takes place in a protected, intimate and calm atmosphere.

We will begin the ritual with a gentle uterine massage, which allows preparation, softening and calming of body and mind, supporting the repositioning of the ligaments surrounding the womb and the optimal positioning of the womb itself.

We will continue with the binding of the bones, using rebozo shawls (a rebozo is a broad, strong, flexible, woven fabric) gently but firmly wrapped around the important body parts, area by area, until you are entirely wrapped and gathered in the fabric. Afterwards, you are slowly, gradually unwrapped; we will then have a calming, balancing herbal tea together and, if you wish, we can talk about what arose for you during the wrapping, or allow non-verbal integration of the experience.

At the end of the ceremony, you may go back to your day with sensitivity to and awareness of your needs, like rest, quiet and balanced nutrition.

Your baby is invited to be part of the space, supported by someone close (sister/mother/friend) energetically experiencing the ceremony with you.

If the ceremony takes place in your home, we recommend a bath with calming healing herbs before the massage.

The ceremony lasts for about two hours.
